The dispensary system allows the user to enter and track dispensing orders. The
patient file and the exam system are tied to the dispensary system. This feature enables
select information from each of these modules such as a patient's name, phone number, and
age, as well as most recent prescription to be transferred accordingly. If necessary the
most recent prescription can be overridden.
When a dispensing order is created, the system displays a list of any previous orders
that have been recorded for that patient. These orders can be reviewed at any time.
Once a patient has been selected, the system prompts the user through a detailed
dispensing screen. This screen consists of fields such as: the type of lens required,
material to be used, quantity, PD, seg width, seg height, OD Height, tint, coating,
extras, frame information, required date, and order status. Information is easily entered
into each of these fields with the help of lookup tables, which allow the user to scan for
common selections. Each option in a lookup table can be configured to have a corresponding
dollar amount. Pricing structures ensure that accurate and consistent pricing is applied
to all orders.
The dispensary system also allows the user to search inventory for the correct frame.
When a frame is selected the appropriate information is displayed on the screen, and
inventory is updated.
Once the order is complete, the system prompts the user to assign it a status such as
on order, on hold, billed etc. At this point the user can accept deposits on the order,
and choose to print the order.
