Patient Records/Files

The Blue Diamond Optometrist System™ makes it easy to add and update patient records. The "electronic" patient file consists of several data input fields. Information such as a patient's address, telephone number, birth date, family physician, personal health number, referral source, occupation, hobbies, and last visual examination can be recorded.

At times, a patient file will require information that does not conform to any of the available fields. This information can be easily added, or tagged to a patient file. The user can add notes to a patient file by simply selecting a particular function key. Notes fall under one of five pre-determined 'note groups': public notes, private notes, exam notes, MSP notes, and contact lens notes. Any user on the system can view public notes; private notes are designed to be viewed only by the optometrist. Notes can be added to a patient file and viewed from within most modules in the system including the exam, dispensary, and contact lens modules.

While in the patient file it is also possible to view a patient's account information. With the touch of a button the user can view all account transactions for any patient in the system. As you can see, the Blue Diamond Optometrist System™ makes the patient file a rich source of information!

Additional information can also be linked to the patient file such as letters, graphic images and faxes. Once these files have been associated with the patient, a hot key can be activated to display the list of attached documents. With the use of the arrow keys that user can scroll through the list until the correct document is found. After it’s located it will be displayed on the screen for the user to see.

For example, if you have a history of graphics pictures of the patient eye, you can look a specific picture, or scroll through them. Or if you have a number of correspondence letters you could scroll through these before you see the patient.
