Arctic Data Corporation:
Integration with Word Processing Packages

Rather than "reinvent" a word processing package, Arctic Data designed a system capable of integrating and supporting the many full featured word processing packages that are already on the market. The Blue Diamond Optometrist system is capable of supporting industry standard packages including WordPerfect^ä and Microsoft Wordä.

To fully utilize the integration with a word processor the user must first familiarize themselves with Arctic File III. Arctic File III is an integrated report generation system within the software. This file contains large amounts of historical information about such things as dispensing orders, contact lens orders, service contracts, invoice details, account histories, and exam histories.

Information stored in Arctic File III is the source of data for user defined reports. Almost any report you can think of can be designed with Arctic File III. In addition, information from this file can be integrated with standard word processing packages and spreadsheet programs to create such things as referral letters, graphs, and patient mail outs.
